Slightly shoddy research has led me to determine that the day I was born was the last day of the Chinese lunar year (of the boar), as well as the penultimate day of A.H. 1391. (The Chinese calendar begins its lunar months on the astronomical new moons, while the Islamic calendar delays a day and a half or two until somebody sharp-eyed sees the ( Read more... )

Why, thank you, kind sir. Only early by a matter of hours, in any case.

Damn, I just expurgated that link, forty-five seconds before your comment came in. How will I explain to the late-comers that I had originally been so needy as to point out my Amazon Wish List?

I've seen Shawn of the Dead, so I know I like it, but I've already seen it, so it's a quandry.

Thank you, d'H! I prefer not to dwell overly much on getting older (and none wiser) but I'll take the new year good wishes with pleasure ;)

And a very happy Chinese and Islamic birthday to you! *hugs* According to this, you are self-reliant, sociable, dependable, and determined. Also, you're a peace-lover and you don't hold grudges. All excellent qualities :)

It is only recently that I've even discovered that I was a boar. Led astray by the placemats in several otherwise reputable restaurants, I thought I was born in the Year of the Rat (which started the day after I was born.) However, by the Chinese Solar Year, I am a rat -- so I am not sure how being born during the cusp effects my personality.

The year of the boar is a very auspicious year in which to be born. We were told that by multiple Chinese students when our daughter was born in that year too.

I think maybe mothers should get the birthday presents. After all, mothers do all the work associated with birth. So, now you want two presents??

You do not need to buy me a fake-birthday present. Yours is not the approval and attention for which I wildly flail.
