not sudoku! we'll never hear from poor tch again. He'll just be sitting there twitching and muttering "123456789123456789123456789123..." under his breath.
hee! my dad got my brother hooked. last time we visited dad had this look of glee on his face--big brother looked like he was about to cry. Can't sleep, numbers gonna eat me. Can't sleep, numbers gonna eat me.
Thanks! I did about three-quarters of the New York Times Tuesday acrostic whilst waiting the half-hour before my flight boarded, and I'm here to tell you that your times are pretty damn impressive. Though I can't be doing with annoying clues like 'West Wing Network', where 'Channel 4' doesn't fit.
It is a bit culturally slanted, but then all the letters in "NBC" were checked with more obvious letters. And, of course, when I do the Guardian I have to constantly ask questions like, "Can TA mean 'soldiers'?" Or, "Is there a Mary Archer?" "I suppose Robin Hood would be a 'merry archer.' "
Yeah, I actually got it once I got the 'N', so it was no big issue. And when in Rome, of course. Naturally, it's also a recognition thing. I get inconsolable when I can't do the Guardian Quick Crossword in six minutes, but then, I know their quirks.
As to Mary Archer, I present you with what is considered among the cognoscenti to be one of the finest clues in British crossword history, courtesy Araucaria:
Poetical scene has chaste Lord Archer vegetating (3, 3, 8, 12)
