Let me take this opportunity to thank everyone for your warm birthday wishes. They were much appreciated. I, on the other hand, skipped the pleasantries and just tried to buy my own affection with a book run, getting Redmond O'Hanlon's Trawler, In the Rose Garden of the Martyrs by Christopher de Bellaigue, and Lawrence Block's new Matthew Scudder ( Read more... )

Having made extensive study of blood sausages, I can definitively state that no known version of morcilla, good though many are, truly resembles a black pudding. My local Chilean butcher makes two fine versions of morcilla but for the true black pudding experience I would direct you to Clitheroe where a butcher in the High Street makes a black pudding as fine as any to be add on either side of the Irish sea.

First? Happy birthday! I hope it was a good day for you :)

Second? Ewww, blood pudding. There's a Chinese dessert that's equivalent to blood pudding that my parents enjoy. I can't quite get past the "blood" aspect to enjoy the pudding.

Thank you, Scroll. I'm with you on the blood pudding -- I don't care what's in it, I'm not getting past the name.

Thank you for my laugh of the day! Sorry to be so late with the birthday wishes, but I'm in exile and have only limited internet access.

So, you wiley guy, you're an Aquarian like me...or rather, not anything like me. I'm turning in my astrology diploma and I'm going to become a mathematician or a, I don't know, some kind of rational, logical-type person.

No, thank you!

For you, I could be a Scorpio . . .

Oh, that's so sweet! I've heard of people being willing to convert to another religion, but to another sign?

I'm touched.
