I still haven't found a copy of Superman: Red Son, but this looks like it will do nicely instead:He is an icon of all-American heroism - but yesterday it was revealed that Superman is set to quit the US for a West seaside resort. Weston-super-Mare, more famous for its donkeys than costumed crime-fighting, will replace the US mid-West as the place ( Read more... )

Holy cow! I just had to email the article to my best friend Sue, because she grew up in Weston-super-Mare, and her parents still live there. Also, she has met John Cleese...6 degrees of separation and all that ;)
I'm sure this will be a very strange thing indeed. There will probably be a parrot.

I can never count degrees of separation . . . I suppose that puts me three degrees away from John Cleese! Go me!

but tonight's episode ("The Greatest Story Never Told") was much less an homage to Rosencranz And Guildenstern Are Dead and much more a complete steal of "The Zeppo."

That is, of course, the first thing I thought also. But done quite well, the major difference being it's the tale of an underappreciated superhero rather than an ordinary guy. And you could say the way Booster Gold learns to value true, unappreciated heroism over fame does put a different spin on the material...but, yeah, it's pretty much the same material.

Oh, I guess I'll have to get it from Amazon the next time I do a big Amazon order (I want a hard copy of The Inform Beginner's Guide and the print-on-demand company that does them has gone out of business and will sell them through Amazon only through the end of the year) -- I just don't know when I'll next do a big Amazon order.

Oh, definitely well done. I quite enjoyed it (of course I quite enjoyed "The Zeppo," too). I think the main resonance was the way the apocalypse all the other characters were dealing with kept peeking out into the story.

If you wait long enough and put it on the other white guy with your name and taste in music's amazon wish list you may get it for Christmas! (I'm still gonna look at his list for ideas for you!) And yes, I could rewrite the first sentence so that the modifier's are in the right place but I don't want to.
