Brad DeLong points out that the Bush administration, bastion of laissez-faire that it is, has announced new tariffs on shrimp imported from China and Vietnam. I finally read part of Tuesday's NYTimes. A Spanish company is drilling some exploratory wells off Cuba. Haliburton is interested. What's Bushie to do? What's more important: his pocketbook or his conservative Cuban supporters in south Florida. Oh,,, false dichotomy: what's more important his business backers or his pocketbook? The good news is I'll be able to go to Cuba sooner than expected.
