I currently have 4 books and one CD in my Amazon shopping cart, and I was looking at Amazon's blurb for "The Page You Made," when it struck me that the top two items were The Road To Disunion, based on rahael's recommendation, and Donald E. Westlake's new Dortmunder caper, The Road To Ruin. I thought that was an interesting synchronicity, though not ( Read more... )

Just got tix to see The Purple One at Madison Square Garden on July 14th.

Heard the Musicology tour is hits-heavy. (Yes, he's tired of barricading himself in his Minneapolis studio, away from all the mean and nasty record executives; he wants us to luuuuuuv him again.)

Seems to me that we had an opportunity, but someone who shall remain nameless was worried about tube traffic.

I'm jealouser.

Someone over at Amazon reported that at the concert he or she attended three days before the album release, Prince was playing songs like "D.M.S.R." and "Nothing Compares 2 U," which suggests that he's not entirely in county-fair play-the-singles mode just yet.

Hooray - another Dortmunder novel! Can't wait to get my hands on it. I recently bought a new copy of The Hot Rock since mine is falling apart - so glad they've reissued it.

If the Westlake is still in your shopping cart, how can I read it when I come to see you in a little more than a week? I'm in the midst of reading my mothers day present, the latest in the Number One Ladies Dectective Agency series. I love it but not much mystery. Of course, I am also making my way through the last Left Behind book (I'm only reading it for work purposes).

Oh, ye of little faith in Amazon's shipping times. I haven't yet placed the order, but if I do so today or even tomorrow I'm confident of having the package by the time you're here. Of course, I'll still need time to read the book, but how difficult can that be?
