Rufus (occasionally -- very occasionally -- known as hankat) gets linked by Gary Farber, shrinking my online world just a smidge. He makes light of the skill of the transcriber (who is not actually Rufus -- though, having seen Mr. Rufus, I can see why Mr. Punctuation might keep his distance), though I don't see Farber trying to take dictation for 42 ( Read more... )

I don't know how much potential there is there. Madison/Hamilton, on the other hand, definitely, and I think Adams/Jefferson is Joseph J. Ellis's OTP.

I think there are suspicious amounts of UST between Franklin and everyone.

I might force you to watch 1776 the next time you're here.

I surely didn't mean to insult the transcribers, and if I did, I apologize. The thought crossed my mind of putting in a clarifying remark of how I appreciated the work, from which we readers benefited, but I was lazy and didn't; sorry.

For the record, though I've not done so in a fair number of years, I have quite a few years experience, in the distant past, as a secretary, and also as a legal word processor, and have done many hundreds of hours of transcribing of audio tape; at least a couple of thousand hours, actually, all required to be perfectly punctuated. It's a skill that is, of course and however, learned, and I certainly don't fault anyone for not possessing it out of the box.

My thanks, again, to those involved for their work. Joss: he funny.

Oh, I didn't mean to suggest that you should be made to apologize; the transcription is such that the warning was fair. There are also ironies intended that may not be apparent to those who are not steeped in ATPo history -- my girlfriend was the prime source at ATPo for transcriptions of DVD commentaries through at least BtVS season 5/AtS season two. I also wrote the post under the initial impression that Rufus herself had done the transcribing, and she's certainly made light of her own liberties with punctuation, so I thought it was a fair subject; but I certainly couldn't just send people who know her over to your site without a fair warning of my own.

Mostly, though, I was just gobsmacked to see a dusty corner of the internet that I have called home would be linked to by someone I consider a prominent figure, so my writing (and consideration of who my audience would contain) had a laziness of its own.

Thanks muchly for the compliment!

As for the linkage: I have eyes everywhere.

Everywhere, he hissed.

It's the only way to be sure.

It's hell on expenses for eyewash, though.
