My birthday has been very successful; my thanks to all those who extended their best wishes, with a special thank you going out to aliera9916 for the gift. It is greatly appreciated! I was well-gifted ( Read more... )

Happy Birthday, d'H! I won't wish you a happy Valentine's though, because I'm guessing the presence of the gorgeous Rah has taken care of that. lol Have a great day, man. :)

Thank you! Rah looked phenomenal at dinner, by the way, not that that's any different from her usual spectacular.

Rah is here for another week!

I doubt that my father has read The Da Vinci Code; and, to give him credit, were the novel better written and more derivative of actual obscure history, it would be the kind of novel I really, really like. In fact, it might be Kavalier and Clay, though the jury is still out on that one.

Happy Birthday, d'H! And to prove that I really mean it, I won't go into my knee-jerk rant re D Brown.

no, no, no, I won't. No matter how much my fingers itch.

Thank you! If it's any consolation, I may be ready to rant along with you soon -- though, to be honest, not having read a book has never before prevented me from ranting about it.

This is the real conspiracy - The Da Vinci Code and parents! It needs to be investigated and stopped before everyone receives it, along with accompanying parental guilt.

Hope you and Rah had a great day!

That's not a bad idea for a thriller -- a plucky blonde literary critic must fight against the sale of potboilers to gift-giving parents everywhere when she discovers that the books, though they appear to be nothing but hackwork, actually use a virulently infectious meme developed in the Fourteenth Century by gnostic Cathars in the service of Giovanni Boccaccio, and that the secret to stemming the spread of this literary plague is contained in a raised pedestal in the church of Santa Maria Novella in Florence, Italy.

I call it The Decameron Dais. I have no idea who will star in the adaptation.
