Because nothing is so indicative of my well-being as the speed with which I do the crossword, my no-longer-mysterious numbers have been shifted to the "Current Mood" field.

Actually, I don't think that "4:34" quite fully conveys how pissed off I am about this. I haven't yet seen anything about it on my blogstroll -- I keep checking the c's, ( Read more... )

When the Apollo space program was terminated, one of the comments made by the astronauts on Apollo 17 was that it was ended just as they were starting to get good at it. They'd figured out how to get the astronauts trained as decent field investigators. Heck, Apollo 17 had the first actual 'scientist' on board. (That statement is not negating the educational levels of many of the astronauts, just pointing out that they had the first one whose actual field was applicable to the work being done on the moon ( ... )

I don't know much about how policies are implemented or changed in the US -- but would a new administration be likely to overturn Bush's decision? Is there even a glimmer of hope for the Hubble?

I am sad though; I've always enjoyed those pictures of the cosmos. SPACE, our sci-fi channel, shows short segments at the top of the hour about different scientific advancements, especially space phenomena, and Hubble images are often used. And while Mars missions sound really cool, I hate that it's at the cost of the Hubble.
