What did you finish reading

Still nothing and it is terrible.

What are you reading now

The Gospel of Loki, by Joanne Harris: I haven't made much progress with this, either. A few things are bugging me and in isolation they wouldn't be so bad, but it's the combination of them and the grater context of the Runemarks series that makes them grate. Ah well ( Read more... )

Ooh, thanks for the heads-up on "We Have Always Fought"; I read her blog only sporadically, so I'd missed it!

I love the Percy Jackson books so much! I really wish they'd existed when I was 10, but I still find there's a lot to love about them even though I'm now enough older than the primary cast that my response is less 'yes! let's go on an adventure!' and more 'oh, sweethearts, i wish i could tell you this would all be okay'. They're intricately-plotted and slyly funny and beautifully characterized. All the hearts!

I've always enjoyed Riordan's writing, but the most recent Heroes of Olympus novel just floored me. So beautiful. As well as better, they're also getting longer as they go, so you'd have several thousands of pages to sink your teeth into, with the final book coming out in October.

There's a 50-50 chance I'll join you; I've been pondering a re-read between now & October!

There's some PG romance, but also a lot of very excellent (and significant to character/plot) friendships in both series, so I suspect and hope that you'll enjoy them.
