[An Allen steps out of one door, clearly not watching where he's going.]

...but sir, I just... Ow!

[He hits the wall and nearly falls over on his ass. Opening one eye, he looks around ready to complain at whoever was in his way.]

A wall? This isn't right at all. Sir, where did you go? [He makes a sour face.] Mister Marian? This isn't funny...

[there's a beansprout with a blindfold over his eyes wandering by, who stops when he hears Allen's voice]

Are you okay?

[he looks... defeated, really. Exhausted and weary in more ways than one. But he manages a smile, a shadow of his usual one, aimed more or less in Allen's direction]

OH BOY! :D bookmusician July 24 2011, 19:07:44 UTC
[Once again, Allen doesn't look over right away. However, that voice sounds too familiar to his ears and he turns his head, letting out a squeak as he presses his back up against the wall.]

Dreaming... No, it's a nightmare...! Why... Why do you look like me?

[oh dear... he sighs and shakes his head, resigned. Figures he'd run into someone new now of all times.] You're not dreaming... I'm sorry, this must be startling for you. But you're not in the same place - even the same world - you were before. There are a lot of people who look like you and your friends here.

How...? How is that...?

[He's feeling quite overwhelmed right now. Perhaps because of this, he notices the blindfold and how exhausted he looks, his mind latching onto these details to distract himself.]

Are you all right? You look tired.

Oh... [faint smile] I'm fine, don't worry. [totally lying through his teeth BUT WHATEVER]

This place is... it's somewhere that pulls people from all sorts of different worlds and throws them all together. Some people think it has a kind of consciousness of its own. Either way, there's no way to leave on your own, only if it decides to send you home.

[And lying to HIMSELF no less. He knows you. :| ] You don't look it.

[Those words make him start, opening his mouth then closing it again.] ...I would say that it's not possible and it sounds like some kind of plot you'd hear on the telly. But I'm the one who's arguing with himself.

[that actually makes him laugh a little - congrats there other-him!] It really does sound that way, doesn't it? You don't have to take my word for it, either. Explore a little... I'll come with you, if you like. Just so you have someone who knows their way around a little to explain things to you.

[that and it will do a wonderful job of distracting him from his own problems helping someone else]

[He's a bit shy but he nods.]

I'd like that. This... It feels so different from home. I certainly didn't expect to see a mirror of myself today.

[He's clearly cautious, the feeling of being in a new place making him wary.]

You look...different than me. [He catches himself and shakes his head.] I don't mean that in a bad way! I-I mean, we look the same but still...different.

[smiles faintly and nods]

I'm older than a lot of the other Allens here, I think. And from what I hear most of them have white hair and mine's just really light blond. And then there's this. [gestures at his cane] So you're right, we probably do look fairly different.

Really? [All of this surprises him and he didn't notice the cane until it was pointed out. He looks down at it and understands, pursing his lips slightly.]

We might be different but we're probably the same in the end. [He sighs, rubbing his left arm slightly.] So...what kind of place is this? It feels a little like a fun house right now except the reflections come to life.

[there's that weary little laugh again] That's as accurate a description as I've ever heard, actually. You're going to see a lot of bizarre things here.

[pauses, thinking. Other-Allen had mentioned the telly, so he's not from the timeframe Allen thinks most Exorcists are from, but to be sure...] If this question sounds silly to you, forgive me, but - are you an Exorcist?

bookmusician August 15 2011, 04:16:49 UTC
[And there's the "bizarre" things.] Exorcist? Like someone who removes demons from people? Oh no, definitely not. I don't even go to church at all. Why do you ask? I hope you don't mean you think you have a demon inside of you.

sightlessclown August 20 2011, 02:40:56 UTC
No, no, nothing like that. Ah, you'll meet a lot of Exorcists here... I'm not one either, so I can't really explain as well, but in their worlds, there are demons called Akuma roaming around, and their job is to kill those demons so regular humans don't get hurt. [he shrugs ruefully] That's just the start of the weirdness, really.

S-so I see. [He can't keep the quaver from entering his voice. Demons being real, Exorcists and normal humans being hurt. It sounds dreadful.]

What is your world like? I wonder if it's like mine... [He laughs lightly.] It would be strange, wouldn't it? Being from a place that's so similar but we're only slightly different.

[Allen nods] That happens a lot here, I think... well, it's hard to say much about my world, I guess, because it seems so normal to me. It's the twenty-first century... I'm in college, and so are Kanda and Lenalee and Lavi and everyone else, and there aren't any Akuma, at least I don't think so. Though I guess as a normal person I probably wouldn't know.
