(Reever was engrossed with reading her book as she listened to classical music-- so when all of a sudden the music disappeared in a big boom, she jumped in surprise and turned her head to find the radio in smithereens.)

[He says nothing, still standing there with his arm outstretched in the direction of the blast. Chest heaving, eyes dark with something that's not quite anger.]

[He jumps when Cross's hand makes contact with his shoulder, eyes wide and fearful. And he looks much like an animal trapped. But then the trembling spreads, and he can't help but to laugh weakly. Cross always seems to see his worst moments, doesn't he?]
