[Tonight was promising to be a quiet night in the dressing room. The Tykis may be lounging in the miscellaneous bars and pubs, and the Allens are probably curled up in piles of blankets. Who knows where the Crosses are, but that's nothing new. And Lavis? Well... they're probably head-first in a book, drooling and getting ink on themselves. Yes, ( Read more... )

[Dreaming still unnerves her. It shows, in the way the largely formless landscape seems to flicker. Miranda herself is solid, however, and so are the two piles of dolls beside her. The one to her left- the larger of the two- is composed of broken dolls. To her right is a scattered pile of meticulously repaired ones. Miranda is carefully stitching together the torn arm of one that is otherwise featureless.]

[The world quickly comes into focus, as though someone just readjusted the antennae on top of a flickering television. Stop that. Whoever it is controlling the dream wants it to remain stable.]

[From the pile of broken dolls, there comes a whimper.]

[She startles, and starts to carefully move the dolls aside.]

-ah?

[Whatever it is, it's still whimpering. Almost like a baby crying.]

[Might have to dig for it, Miranda.]

[The dream is a rather simple one at the moment, and consists mainly of a large, expansive field surrounded by a wooden fence. A hobo Tyki is sitting on top of the fence, chewing on the end of a wheat stalk, and looking out into the field.]

[He's been here before. This field. This farm. The barn in the middle of the field... he's been looking for it for as long as he can remember.]

[And yet, he can't bring himself to move from the fence yet. This may be the barn he's been looking for, but it doesn't feel quite right.]

[He's standing in a hallway. Or, rather, poking his head out of a bedroom doorway, looking down a hall. There's the unmistakable smell of cinnamon, cedar, coffee, and chocolate chip cookies wafting from the staircase at the end of it, and he's quite excited about this.]

[It's more like a memory, than a dream. One that's been tucked away for a long, long time.]

[And look who's there beside him now, peering down that hallway. If it were anyone else - he'd get the hell out of there, because he knows this is Road's doing. It's her. It makes his eye ache and sets his bones on edge, but--

...but it was Sleeper. Hobo wasn't leaving him alone in Road's world.] ...It smells nice.

Wow, I mucked that one up badly. sleepingpath January 16 2011, 06:47:03 UTC
[There's a very soft, and very quiet voice in Hobollen's right ear, like a little girl's (but not Road's) whisper: We're safe here... Should Hobollen turn in that direction, he'll see a little girl in a pink nightie standing there, blond hair falling in perfect ringlets around her face.]

[Sleeper looks up at her first, grinnning, and then turns the smile toward Hobollen.] I think it's Christmas.

No worries dude. selfdeluded January 16 2011, 06:58:14 UTC
[It actually startles him, that whisper, and he does indeed whirl around expecting to see Road-- but the little girl standing there instead makes him pause and stare in a slightly baffled sort of way.

But. But Sleeper seems to know her. And she doesn't seem like Road as far as he can tell.. so he turns his gaze back to Sleeper and smiles just slightly in return.] ...Christmas Eve? Or Christmas day?

I have perfect timing, clearly. marreddream January 16 2011, 05:27:39 UTC
[The world gives a funny turn. Not quite a lurch, but more of a nudge. With it, the colors start to dull, and the noise starts to dim. The people start to thin out as well.]

[... odd. The sky is blue, but it appears to be snowing, now.]

[Really? Not mad. Just tired and irritated; there's too much Family in this place, that isn't really family at all. She hates it here, and wants out.]

[There's a girl standing in the middle of the road, beneath a pink umbrella with a pumpkin top. Her back is to him, but it's obvious who it is, with the striped stockings. One of her hands are outstretched as she catches snowflakes.]

[The landscape is structured to be that of a Japanese garden, but instead of the greenery one would normally expect...it's all lotus flowers. Everywhere. Not that this is really any different for Kanda, really.

Kanda himself is just sitting on a bench, watching the clouds.]

[Might hear a familiar laugh as the kid makes his way toward you, finally dropping to a sitting position next to Kanda's feet.]

What'cha doin?
