[Road is seated on the railing in the central area of the DR, fanning herself with a handful of pamphlets and frowning distractedly. She's dolled up in some gothic lolita fashion that's really not out of character for most versions of herself, but her immediate appearance is human.]Well this is inconvenient. How am I supposed to get a supply of

That's how things used to be, but integrating with human society--that's the best way to survive, in the end. Our nature is too likely to drive us to self-destruction, if we don't.
But tell me what happened.

I only heard about it in passing from those in charge of the hotel we were staying at. He was caught by a maid and they pulled him out to the jail using their handcuffs, had a bit of silver in them, so he couldn't escape... The jail cell he was in didn't have curtains, the sun got through and burned him.

What's silver got to do with it? But what was he caught form they discovered him feeding?

Silver burns and can bind me and the others from home. [Allen nods.] He was feeding on another maid in the service closet...

Hmm, that sounds like werewolves. And that's how most of them used to get found--it's the destructive urge, we're given eternity yet we can't help but be careless with it.

Mm~ It's harder the older you get. If you don't have something to hold on to, eternity will carry you away, and you'll forget yourself. [It's weird saying this to him, she's told her Allen this before. But every vampire deserves to be warned about losing themselves, and she doesn't know what this Allen might know.]

He tried to drill that in my head a few nights before he was caught. It...hasn't quite sunk in yet, I'm probably too young.

Maybe. But Allen... Find something to hold on to. Because if you ever lose yourself... [Such a little smile...] I'll destroy you. [Because she couldn't bear to see that.]

Something to hold onto? Like a memento? [He's curious once again, and he's already got it drilled in his head to not try to get attached to a human yet.]

A person, a memento, whatever you can grasp onto to anchor yourself. Something you can live eternity for.

A person... I couldn't stand anchoring myself to a human, to watch them die... That would drive me out in the sun. [Very sad, sad smile.]

That happens, sometimes. But sometimes you can't choose wh--what it is, you just find it.

Something wrong, Road?

Tell me about yourself, Allen.
