As a non-musician, I was surprised that I'd heard of most of the instruments and knew much of the relationships between them as well. Your and R-Conley's influence, I guess. But I had Not heard of such a thing as a bass sackbutt, or did you make that one up? For no reason that I can explain, I've always liked sackbutts, and krumhorns too, which go together with them in my head, from the first time I heard either of them, decades back.
Try proposing your game in the early afternoon at Pensic or Faire someday. And let me know when you're going to so I can arrange to be there! But be prepared to supply a few instruments. I doubt unsuspecting ~victims will have both extremes of a family on hand.
If you can just write like that on an hour of sleep consistently, you have a future in writing high-brow comedy. Of course, there's no money in that in this country, but it might be fun. You could also try counting unicorns; that seems to work for some folks who have outgrown sheep ...

I admit, that one, I did have to look up. Then when I found it, it was "aha! I knew I had heard the term before...."
For some strange reason, in high school band, nearly 35 years ago, I was best friends with a bass trombone player. And me an alto sax...
