Who Q

I'm not a serious Dr. Who fan, and when I channel-surf past it I only get sucked in to watching the rest of the episode about a quarter of the time, but I've seen enough to have a basic idea what's going on and why so many of my friends like it, and I've enjoyed some episodes while getting bored with others.

I noticed that the episode showing on ( Read more... )

If you liked the first three Doctors -- Pertwee and his two predecessors -- you'll like it. If not, not. It's more than just another episode; there are a lot of in-jokes and good things. I happen to like 'The Five Doctors' better because it includes Tom Baker, but that's me.

It is one of the better early episodes, and worth seeing if only because the majority of the Hartnell and Troughton episodes were lost in a fire at the BBC. Since Doctor Who predates the whole "season-ending cliffhanger" idea that seems to have infected every adventure series, this is one of only a few 'special' episodes to occur throughout the series, and the first that I'm aware of that survives.

I vote 'tape it'.

I'm inclined to agree. If nothing else, it'll give you a compare-and-contrast among the first three actors, which may increase appreciation of any of the rest of their episodes you should wander across.

Its fun watching Troughton & Pertwee trading insults, for sure, I enjoyed it, I think you should tape it and watch it, yes.

I agree with hobbitblue entirely although I freely admit that I've been a fan since my teens and am greatly enjoying the latest series now that it has made it to the US.
I always found Pertwee amusing and he is absolutely the spitting image of the drunken Rabbi who preformed my wedding.

Tape away!

I hate to laugh, since it's not funny but it's funny, but ROFLMAO!! I actually had to go do a Google Image search because of that, as I wasn't sure which one he was, me not being a Who fan of long standing. (Something about that filmed-stage-play ethos always put me off, but then again, I don't like live theatre; it's so much better read... *snertle*)

The second thing I thought of was, "That sounds like the rabbi D. had when he was a kid..." (Third thought: How many Irish rabbis are there?) It's late and I'm going to bed, lehit bye, and forgive me...
