An angel touches down some ways away on the lawn, looking a bit bedraggled and, well, rather wet. Have we mentioned that it's raining out? Well, it wasn't a moment ago but now it is. There's nothing quite like having the sky decide to actually open up just as you're coming in for a landing but the angel in question doesn't seem to be ( Read more... )

Sammy enjoys the sound and atmosphere of falling rain (the dreary calm of it reminds him of London), so he's sitting out under some sort of cover reading a book. When Zithri arrives, he takes note of the style of wings -- though the state of them remind him of his mother's father's -- and the flying leathers, accurately placing him as a Samarian angel.

And then he carefully sets the book down (bookmarking it, of course) and gives Zithri an obliging pause before grinning at him with a "Well?"

"Well?" Zithri repeats, straightening up a bit. "Am I lost or am I late?" He takes an extra moment to think before shrugging and going on into his little story, motioning with his hands to illustrate and emphasize. "Either way I suppose it could be blamed upon the flock of birds that took to following me on my flight, completely as if they expected me to know exactly where they were going when I'm often at a loss as to where I'm going. After all, it's fairly easy to get all sorts of turned around once you reach the clouds. Anyway, they obviously didn't understand when I tried to explain to them that I was an angel and not an over-large bird and that I wasn't sure if I even recognized the ground I kept glimpsing but they didn't take very kindly to it when I tried to shoo them off, either, the vicious little thing."

"You're probably lost, though I actually just wanted to hear your excuse," Sammy grins. "And that's a pretty good one. Aren't you from Samaria?"

"Excuses are usually something I'm fairly good for." And home is obviously a reason to smile so Zithri does so. "I am. Specifically from Cedar Hills, as I mentioned."

Naomi's happier to see him than she is concerned about whatever excuse he may concoct, though this mostly manifests as a faint but genuine smile on her. "Zithri," she says, solemnly as always but with a certain warmth to it nonetheless, "I was beginning to think you wouldn't show up at all."

"Hello, Naomi." Even her solemness gets a bright smile, followed closely by a wrinkled nose. "Then I am late. Of course. But I always show up eventually and, when I'm lucky, conveniently. How are you, then?"

She just laughs quietly. "I'm quite well." Quite a lot of that has to do with a certain angel, but she'll leave that part out for now. "This place is more pleasant than it seems."

He glances around with a shrug. "Well, I haven't exactly been here long enough to have an opinion on how pleasant it is so I'll keep that in mind."

On the other hand, Bethuel merely looks unabashedly pleased to see him (as he is to see any of his "family"; that word used here in a looser sense than usual), hence the broad, rather bright grin. "If you're lost, you're probably lost here forever." To him, these seems like a sensible enough greeting. "I mean, you can go home, but you won't want to as much." Then, after a moment, he adds brightly: "'lo there, by the way."

Zithri tilts his head a bit curiously and grins. "Hello. What makes this place so interesting, then?" He pauses to laugh. "Unless it's got something to do with women. If it's women, then I've read your mind and I've no idea where to go from there."

He's gotten this so many times he no longer even has the grace to look sheepish about it. "There are quite a lot of beautiful women here, actually," he admits, "and one in particular. But that's not all of why it's nice, just most of it."

"Oh, someone's lucky enough to actually be singled out at the moment?" Mostly he has to stick to that strand of conversation because he's personally got nothing to say on the subject but also because he's always curious what everyone's up to.

Aspasia grins, eyebrows raised in amusion. "Such as not knowing where you are?"

The relatively charming smile for an attractive woman is pretty much just instinctual, being a Samarian, but the laughter is at least genuine. "The excuse is for explaining why I don't know where I am. Simply not knowing where you end up isn't a very good reason for getting lost in the first place."

Persis likes ceremony in its place, but its place s definitely not around Zithri when he's just landed. She resists the urge to tug at his wingtips, instead ruffling his hair even further. "Well, hello," she chirps, "I see some people are even less punctual than I am."

Zithri wrinkles his nose at the hair ruffling but there's really nothing to be done about it. It's not like she could make it all that much worse. "If I ever try to describe myself as punctual, I'll have become a liar rather than just a creative storyteller."

The mussing effect hasn't gone unnoticed. She really should've tried for the feather-tug, shouldn't she have? "Nonsense! It's not your fault that you just happen to run into odd obstacles wherever you go. Chance just favors you that way."

Probably, yes, if she wanted more of a reaction. "Something I've obviously inherited from my father." The crack is made quite cheerfully and lovingly, really.
