The girl -- no, the young woman enters, deeply engrossed in a book on sorcery. Unfortunately, there's a couch in her path. She trips over it with a mostly-muffled curse and, somehow, lands in a spectacularly tangled pile on the floor. "Ow," she finally says, directing a scowl at the couch. Then she looks around and shakes her head

"Walking and reading tends to result in that problem," Kaat says, matter-of-factly. "Unless you're John, anyway, but I've always suspected he's not human."

"Well, usually there aren't couches in my way." Kalyn makes a brief face at her. "Anyway. Hi."

"Of course. It's all because of the vicious attack couches." Kaat grins. "Hi."

"Obviously." She grins back. "How's things?"

"Nicely executed." Laari grins and reaches over to pull something from Kalyn's hair. "Feathers, huh? Not Liir's chairs again..."

"I've decided furniture has a vendetta against me for destroying it," Kalyn says, completely straight-faced. "And yes, it was one of the nice chairs. You should have seen the looks I got."

She laughs. "You're worse than my kids. Though luckily, none of them do magic. -- That I know of."

"There would probably be more explosions if they did." A grin.
