Holiday party, anyone?

Dec 24, 2007 22:19

Maybe she's had a little too much eggnog, or maybe she just got bored, but Kaat has decided the Mansion is badly in need of some holiday cheer. She's been at work for the past hour, and it looks rather like Santa Claus threw up all over the main room -- fake snow, tinsel and glitter everywhere ( Read more... )

"What's this for?" Aspasia asks with a wrinkle of her nose and a grin, picking up a piece of tinsel from the edge of a table and dangling it between her fingers. "I didn't think you mistress types went in for the sparkly, unless it was to humiliate manly men."

"I like sparkles," Kaat says, holding up a glittery-nailed hand as evidence. "And actually I am not particularly interested in humiliating manly men. More in hurting pretty ones. Not that it makes much difference when I'm getting paid."

She takes a surprisingly delicate sip from the bottle of cognac. "Anyway, I like Christmas. Lurlinemas. Whichever. It's fun. So I thought, you know, other people might like to have fun too."

"Potato, potahto," she says, wrapping the tinsel several times around her hips and tying it in a decorative bow. "I guess anything's fun as long as you share the bounty, right?" Of course she heads to the pile of gifts, weeding through until she finds something suitably feminine and flashy to entertain them both - in this case, silver nail polish and a bottle of body glitter. "Shall we?"

"We shall indeed." She sets aside the bottle. "Though I feel I ought to warn you, my hand-eye coordination is not to be trusted at the moment."

Perpetua Whipple-Pendergast is a family-oriented sort of girl, and so she's making her way through the mansion with a huge (and we mean huge) armful of presents for assorted loved ones, most of them large packages of unwrapped toys for her little nephew), but even the busiest single lesbian can get distracted by a pretty woman in skimpy latex. She laughs and readjusts her grip. "Not a traditional Christmas party, then?"

Kaat flashes a grin. "What, this isn't tradition in your family?"

"My family's idea of a Christmas party is an involved conversation about the evolution of the holiday season throughout history and modern Christmas celebration's impacts on society." Her pause is making her tired, and she grunts under the weight of the boxes. "Mind if I put these down somewhere?"

Kaat shakes her head in mock dismay. "That's tragic. Really it is. Someone needs to teach your family how to party. -- Go ahead. You can put them anywhere, but out of the way is best. If I have my way there will probably be people stumbling about at some point."

Laari wanders in, innocently. Her Christmas attire consists of an Ugly Christmas Sweater one of her kids gave her as a gift, and ribbons twisted into her shoelaces. ".... should you be sitting like that in that outfit?"

"I'm wearing underwear!" Kaat protests, as if that were the height of modesty.

"... so?" She's trying not to laugh.

Kaat rolls her eyes. "So, everything's covered, so what does it matter?"

Here's a Will flopping down next to her, with something suspiciously squirmy and furry in one of his pockets. He grins and kisses her, lightly. "Happy Christmas, even if it is bloody cold outside."

She grins and offers the bottle of cognac. "That's what other people are for. Body heat."

He takes a long sip and snuggles close, presumably with the squirmy object in the pocket on the other side of his body. After a moment, he pauses and lets the puppy in his pocket come out, nosing at his hands.

"There's your present." A grin.

Kaat is just drunk enough that her usual resistance to ultra-girly behavior is significantly worn down -- which means her reaction is pretty much a squee. ". . . I think I may have just died of cuteness."

Will strolls in with brown paper bag in hand, smiles at the decorations, and heads toward the table. He removes a bottle of booze from its bag and sets it on the table. He purses his lips as he contemplates which food item to sample first.

Kaat waves, a bit drunkenly. "Happy Christmas!"

He grins at her. "Happy Christmas to you too." He'll offer a hand politely. "I'm Will. And you are?"

"Kaat Thropp," she says, and shakes his hand with a delicacy born of uncertain coordination. "Professional Scary Lady in Latex and/or Leather and amateur Nuisance."
