I would think "sense of fashion" would make more sense for what's currently in style, and one has a personal "fashion sense".

I remember a saying years back that fashion comes and goes, but style is forever. I've interpreted this to mean that the fashion is defined by the current trends, while style is the ascetic sense that one applies to clothing, accessories, hair, etc.

Using these definitions, I'd say you (and many other people I know) have a personal sense of style, that doesn't adhere to the current fashions.
