STUPIDITY: Father goes behind wife's back to name newborn 'Sarah McCain Palin'

Mark Ciptak says he went behind his wife's back and listed their newborn daughter's name as "Sarah McCain Palin" on her birth-certificate application because "we are strong supporters of that ticket," according to the Kingsport Times-News in Tennessee

Otherwise, you basically said everything I've been thinking, but simply didn't rant about in my own blog. When I posted that link earlier I was simply too flabbergasted to put more than a few coherent sentences together. I mean, seriously? What kind of an asshat does something like this?

Yeah, my general incoherence in the comment on chicklitter's blog was colored with all those thoughts, but I had lost control of my vocabulary and couldn't put words to any of it.

I'm a passionate Democrat, but if my husband went behind my back and changed our kid's name to "Billary Barack Clinton," my foot would be meeting his ass. And the name would be getting changed back.

I'm dumbfounded that the guy did this when the election will be over in less than a month, but this kid could be stuck with this name for the next 80+ years. I heard of a case where the couple named their twins "Brett" and "Farve", but I guess at least they were in agreement about their kids' awful names.

No kidding. The guy doesn't stop to think that if McCain/Palin don't win, in even 4 years he's not going to give a rat's ass about those two. Maybe he will, but certainly not enough to justify changing his daughter's name.

Frankly, the wife needs to change the name back. If her husband can go behind HER back, she can certainly go behind HIS (and then take measures to make sure he'd never do that again).

What's sad is that he couldn't even settle for changing "Ava Grace" for "Sarah Grace" which still isn't forgivable in terms of how he handled it, but at least it wouldn't have been AS bad. :-/
