A. Near the Church, Afternoon

[If you happen to be by the church today, you might spot a young, blonde haired boy looking at it from a short distance. It's hard to tell what he's doing at first; considering it looks like he's hiding behind a tree, he could easily be mistaken as a child possibly playing a game with a friend. But if you look closer ( Read more... )

[Is also out watching the church. Standing out in the open though and smoking a cigarette as he thinks about this one.

Noticing the child hasn't left the entire time, he'll wait until the crowd passes and speak up after hearing what the kid says.]

I doubt it.

[Lucifer calmly turns to the man, tilting his head.]

Do you?

There's the chance we're talking about two different people entirely.

Maybe.

Though, in context, I doubt anyone is enjoying it anymore.

I believe you'd be surprised. There's someone who'd love this, that I know of.

[Nova is still out and about exploring the town when he encounters Lucifer and his snowmen.]

I daresay young man, that's an awful lot of snowmen you are building!

[Lucifer continues on his work, padding up the snowman to perfection, at least in his eyes.]

I was quite bored.

There's not much to do in this town.

[At least not at the moment.]

Kyahaha! I can imagine! I'm actually new here and it is nothing like back home.

[Nova will step closer and inspect.]

Lovely work by the way, though I would have constructed a heavy labor level mech to construct snowmen several stories tall.

[Why? Because SCIENCE!]

[Lucifer moves a little so Nova can look at it better, but otherwise doesn't acknowledge the other man. He simply continues to pat and pad the snowman, going over it again and again.]

Ah. So you are a man who prefers to use indirect means to make things, then?

I suppose I can relate to that, sometimes.

Ah, my heart... it is touched. For today, we have all sang hymns from the deepest parts of our hearts to our Lord Almighty.

[A suspicious man with pale skin and messy hair wearing a suit is speaking with a group of choirboys who had just left the Church. He's carrying a book in his hands.]

My young lads, would you do me the favor and sing just one more song with me for Him? Just one more song, as long as we are still here, in His house.

[The drone boys comply and as they're about to sing, Caster opens Prelati's Spellbook.]

[Lucifer looks on in interest at the sight of Caster. He comes out a bit more into the open, as if to bless whatever was about to happen with his presence.

And really, he does want to see exactly what Gilles is going to do.]

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

[The boys and Caster begin singing. It's one of the hymns that they sang during today's sermon. Caster closes his eyes and he becomes lost in the melody. The volume within his voice appears as if it is increasing. Certainly, his voice is starting to drown out those of the children.

No, it isn't that Caster's voice is growing louder. The boys' voices are growing weaker. They begin coughing as if they're choking on something. At this point, only Caster is still singing the hymn, ignoring the boys as they drop to their knees, grasping at their throats.]

The Lord has promised good to me.
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

[From inside their stomachs and through the esophagus, something begins clawing its way upwards. Writhing tentacles force their way out of the mouths of the children and as Caster continues singing the lyrics to Amazing Grace ( ... )

[Lucifer watches the entire performance, interest growing. He wasn't sure if Caster was simply killing the drones, which to him seemed like quite a waste for the power he seemed to have in the spellbook. He was much more pleased, however, when he saw that it was a summoning. In a way, he probably should have expected it: after all. Music was a very common, and useful, way to summon demons.

Lucifer begins to approach, fearlessly, looking the demons over.]

Is use of the Ancient Tongue always necessary for summoning, or did you simply choose to include it this time.

Who must be loving it?

[the voice is coming from above! yep, add another to the tally of townspeople who like to lurk in trees... Charles, who was waiting for the church to empty out before going inside, had chosen to remain still and silent up until the stranger below spoke.]

[Lucifer looks above him, mismatched red and blue eyes squinting a little bit to get a better look at whoever is speaking. Goddamn human sight.]

An old acquaintance of mine. We've since had a parting of ways.

Have you been there long?

A foul person, I'd imagine, if they were to enjoy a sight like this. [he isn't rude enough to hold an entire conversation with half the party straining their neck, though, so he gracefully drops from his perch after speaking.]

Far too long. It slipped my mind that Sunday masses are half an hour longer than the weekday ones.

He was more foul than you could imagine.

[He isn't taken aback or surprised by the grace at all. If you had been able to snoop on him that well for so long, Charles, he doesn't doubt you must have a considerable amount of it.]

Oh? Could I ask why you were watching?

[Sunday was just a day off to Picky. A time where he wasn't in school, and drone-mom wasn't asking him to do anything. So he was off looking around for something to do, as usual... and he spotted the kid hiding behind the tree.

There weren't too many real kids his age. This kid looked pretty real. That was awful long hair to have on a boy.

He's trying to be sneaky as he comes up behind Louis, but his boots crunch softly in the snow. Also...] Uh. Hey. [That wasn't a very subtle whisper.]

What're you doing?

[Lucifer turns towards Picky at his voice. He wonders just how young Picky really is since, after all. Most of the children he's met here seem to be , well, like him in that regard.]

Oh. I was simply watching.

imjustpicky December 12 2011, 02:43:45 UTC
[This is a perfectly reasonable thing to wonder about. Picky, for his part, only sees the surface of the situation, and assumes that the 'kid' before him really is another kid.

He shuffles around to the other side of the tree, and watches for a moment.]

...why're you watching?

devilwithananny December 12 2011, 02:50:45 UTC
[...An actual child, most likely. Or an extraordinarily good actor. It's hard to tell at the moment. But with the shyness and uncertainty coming from Picky, he's leaning towards a real child.]

I just wished to see how many might go to the Church.
