Most everyone at the hospital was in the clear, now, and he could afford to take a stroll. It'd been a fair amount of time since he'd last left the confines of the white-- or not so white, with Leonardo painting murals here and there-- walls, and he hadn't been scouring the beaches as he used to. Just in case, though, there he was again. There was a messenger bag fashioned from an old tattered hanbok filled with first aid supplies and he was attentively looking for anyone or anything that may have washed up, whether they were human, troll, or more crates filled with supplies.

So when he spotted Conan, it was difficult to tell at first it was indeed the young boy who'd been volunteering.

"Hello! Are you all right?"

Conan blinked, looking up at the greeting with some astonishment himself -- it was the first time he'd encountered Hadesu outside of the hospital, and it took him a moment to imagine what the man might be doing on the beach.

"I'm all right -- just thinking," Conan stood as he assured him. "Going for a walk, Hadesu-sensei?"

On closer examination, it was indeed Conan. Hadesu seemed a bit surprised as well, but smiled as he got closer.

"Ah, yes. My apologies, I mistook you for a newcomer. I try to get out here a couple times a week to check for new arrivals in need of medical care, or for any other supplies that may wash up. We had a number of cargo boxes wash ashore once, but none since. One can hope though. How about yourself? This is quite the place to end up, just for thinking."

"A newcomer?" Conan had heard that a couple of people did regular patrols of the beach to greet new arrivals, but it hadn't occurred to him that Hadesu was one of them. "Sorry to disappoint then! It's just me."

He hesitated. How to explain that he wasn't there solely to think -- that he'd originally come to check that no one new had washed ashore? He'd not managed to be able to forget the corpses casually left to be disposed of by the island, but his careful record of everyone he'd found was going to be difficult to explain--

His dilemma was solved by a gust of wind sending his unattended notebook sliding down the beach.

"Ah--!"

"I'm not disappointed at all! My apologies for not recognizing you right away." He gestured to a pull-cart he'd built and left handy a ways off, near the path to town. If anything, he was at least prepared to haul people or things off, indicating he was a usual beach-comber ( ... )

In normal circumstances, the pull cart and its contents would have been a great source of interest. However, normal circumstances did not include his notebook being perused by someone who didn't know his secret.

Conan hovered as Hadesu perused whatever page the notebook had fallen open on, worried -- he'd already got himself on thin ice with the hospital staff once. He took the notebook, feeling relief as he noticed that it was the diagram of the grove -- though that faded at Hadesu's question.

"Ah ... I thought maybe it might be important. Like a clue."
