OH, I SO LOVE THIS (AND I TOTALLY KNEW I WOULD). oh man, reading this made me wish i knew more about gymnastics. your jonathan is ADORABLE. i love how michael picks up on how bright his smile is, and how it takes over his whole face, and that he starts smiling too and doesn't even realize it. that is so, so cute, and so easy to picture.

"It's always you guys," he tells them solemnly, with the near-painful sincerity that marks the majority of things that come from his mouth. "No one in the world's as amazing as you, no one else is my team. You're first, you're my favourite. Always."

okay, i LOVE that his friends were just ragging on him, but of course jonathan is sentimental and goes to hug them automatically, oh my gosh. he can't even make a joke about it because he's so sincere and loves his teammates so much omg.

"Thanks," he's saying anyway with a faint grin, almost before he's even processed to whom he's talking. Once he's noticed that the young man looks familiar, though, he studies him a little more closely. He does, after

Okay, I was reading this and I couldn't stop grinning. You hit Jon dead-on -- he's all enthusiasm and grinning and painfully, dorkily sincere. And his interaction with Michael is just perfect. I wish there were more, but this is seriously cool beans topped in awesome sauce.

hi. this is really amazing. i was so surprised, in the best way ever, to see this pairing, because these guys are pretty much my favorites, too.

i love the characterization of jonathan; it felt right, from what i've seen of him. jonathan's interaction with his team was very nice. i really love phelps' reaction to him -- the comparison of jonathan to the people phelps is used to. this is an awesome glimpse at them together. A+

Oh, yay, I'm not alone! \o/ I mostly do ship Phelps with Lochte and Jon with Justin Spring (or, you know, his entire team), but this was a silly self-indulgence that actually ended up working out.
