In an effort to not dwell on other things happening today, I am going to hang out here for a bit and talk about happymaking stuffs, and of course right now that means THE AVENGERS
( Read more... )
I went to library and check out Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Captain America, and Thor. I WILL BE READY!! I also got some X-Men for the youngest daughter, but Tony/Wolverine is neither HERE NOR THERE!! lolz
Next week I took the Thursday and the Friday off, which is awesome enough on its own, so I can marathon the Iron Man movies and Captain America (and possibly Thor if I find a copy of the DVD in a local store next week, since I can't buy it till Monday's paycheck and I'm not paying two-day shipping to have it in time for Thursday, but anyway). Only I decided I should visit my father on Thursday, since that's one of his two days off in the week and the first time I'd be seeing him in two months. So I'm going to take my DVDs over to his house and make him watch them with me. And then I'm hitting the midnight movie. (I haven't bought my ticket yet -- I should do that. Not too worried about it selling out, though, since the mega movieplex across the freeway is probably going to have it on three or four screens that opening night.)
Happily I have a backlog of unread Avengers fic, so I'm going to see how much I can get through before the movie. (Not that I'm going to stop reading it afterwards, of course.)
Yeah, I could maybe manage by watching a movie a night in the week leading up to it, but that would cut into the regular network TV I try not to let stack up on the DVR, and anyway an excuse to use up another vacation day on a marathon is more fun

The Place Where I Work is a) requiring me to work on Friday, like it's a normal day or something, and b) having a big Thing on Saturday, and this is really cramping my Avengers style. I thought I'd worked out that I could sneak a morning show on Friday, but no, no time, and so that leaves 4pmish shows, which means 3D and IMAX, which I AM NOT SURE I CAN HANDLE. TRUTH. Steve Rogers 12 stories high? WHO IS SUPPOSED TO HANDLE THAT?
WHAT THE HELL. Do they not realize the vital importance of May 4th, 2012?!?
I can assure you, Cate, that I would NOT be able to handle 12 stories high Steve Rogers. I was barely able to handle 90 seconds of regular movie screen Steve Rogers. I WOULD BE UNCONSCIOUS.
I don't even know what to tell you! This is a catastrophe!
There are, apparently, people in the world who are unaware that next Friday is Avengers day. I am sad to say I work with many of them. IT IS TRAGIC. I mean, what is wrong with people? Priorities, co-workers. Priorities.
To be honest I just want to see it on a nice big screen in 2D, at least the first time. Which is amusing - "Please be gentle, it's my first time with all of you in one place! Maybe the second time we can go for size? . . . "

Pro tip: Just start referring to it as Avengersday, like it's replaced Friday as a day of the week. Their brains will explode and then you can sneak out of work to see the movie.
unless Chris Evans shows up at my door with his pockets full of baby animals and winning lottery tickets. When you say things like this, I love you all the more. :D
Also, I never knew this was my dream until you said it. [to the universe in general] "I'd like this to happen ASAP, please."

I actually own on the prequels, but I don't think I'll have time to view them (again) before Thursday.
God, I am DYING to see this movie.

I've been sadly slacking on reading Avengers fic, even with the Kindle Fire. Why am I so bad at it?
