A Cranky Pants PSA

Nov 20, 2009 11:13

I get that a lot of people didn't like last night's SPN. I've even read some really good posts that critiqued what they didn't like about it as an episodeBut I've also read a lot of posts about how last night's episode is indicative of patterns of failure in the treatment of women characters and etc. etc. etc. the same stuff people have hated ( Read more... )

I don't think you can call a PSA 'cranky pants' when you use the word 'cordially' in it. I'm pretty sure that's in the rules, some place.

I don't get all the whinging, really, I liked the last two episodes just fine. *shrug* Too bad, I do so love to work myself into an irate lather.

I'll fix that. ;)

I know little of SPN (I'm a fanfic-only fan, lol) - but cheers to more people watching FNL! This week's episode damn near kilt me, it was so good.

Tim in the dress shop!

Coach Stan ZOMG!

Buddy actually saving the day for once!

Tim and Matt's hunting trip! (Emperor's new venison over that fire, I see.)

Coach and Luke and Vince and putting a stop to that shennanigans.

The two immaculately turned out soldiers at the door ... my heart stopped.

LOL. Hunters of the year they are not.

Tim in the dress shop!

This alone, without anything else, would have killed me ded. DED. "My mom never took me pageant dress shopping, so I didn't place in the Miss Texas pageant. That's why I got into football." TIMMY. WHEN DID YOU BECOME THE MOST AWESOME FRIEND EVER? Oh right, that was sometime around S2 in Mexico. But I digress.

Coach Stan ZOMG!

I am so curious about this - why did he act completely clueless after the fact? Crazy Sears dude has unplumbed depths.

The two immaculately turned out soldiers at the door ... my heart stopped.Oh, mine too. I literally slammed my hands against my mouth - you know immediately why they're there. And I had been explaining the whole episode to my husband (trying to convert the boy)...I'm all.."Matt...that kid that was hunting...his dad just got killed in Iraq." Cue tears. And Julie crying. Jesus Christ. No one should ever make Julie cry, it breaks my heart. Now two weeks, and more Matt ( ... )

He's so closeted and compartmentalized as a sheer fact of survival, that ... damn. I just hope it doesn't turn into a "very special episode".

But, I'm wondering why he wouldn't assume that Julie's in the same boat, leading a double life, as him?

Now, if you would like to watch arc driven stories full of strong women/people of color characters in which there are hard-won happy endings amidst the storms of life, where the cliches you hate so much are quite often turned on their heads, I cordially invite you to get then pull your head out of your ass* over the football thing and watch Friday Night Lights.

THAT'S WHAT I AM GOING TO SAY EVERY TIME THIS ARGUMENT COMES UP FROM NOW ON. I MAY GET IT TATTOOED ON ME. STRIKETHROUGH AND ALL
