Their story has always been so sad to me. They seemed so mismatched and she was obviously more into her music than her relationship. Not a wise choice on her part. I think I have to side more with Tammy on this issue though. But it's still very unfortunate.
Gosh, Raven, I know what you mean...when I put this up, I didn't write much, just wondered in passing WHY seemingly sweet lovers one day just can't hang on, for reasons even they don't understand.
I'm sure she'll find a way to resolve it all when the money starts rolling in... :) It's not like she was a huge actress before they got together. Now, she's a not huge actress with huge houses. She'll be alright. ;p
Ok, I missed the part about the no money. Still, the babies pretty much guarantee she will not be sharing an apartment in LA while taking acting classes, no? The most famous lesbian in the country is going to let the mother of her kids starve while she watches her blog about it? Not likely.
To me the most depressing thing about all of this is that younger lesbians seem to be modeling their blogging styles upon Rosie's. Writing down our feelings without using capital letters or punctuation and replacing them with poorly thought out line breaks doesn't make us poets. And publicly airing intimate details of breaking up with our children's mothers does not make us deep. It just makes us like every other asshole who behaves badly at the end of a relationship.
Your snazzy writing!!devifemmeJuly 10 2010, 02:16:21 UTC
Dear GBG -- Thanks for your always-lively thoughts! You write such amazing stream-of-consciousness stuff on your LJ, and your reactions here are intriguing! Mentioning the "younger lesbians" did get me reflecting on how much has changed among us girl-loving ladies in the past, say, 20 years.
And you are so right about the way a lot of girls misbehave as a relationship crumbles -- having done my share of misbehaving a decade or two ago.

I think lots of folks misbehave in break ups...straight folks, gay folks, queer folks...and that can be exacerbated by youth for sure, but sometimes not even age can help people grow up. I honestly just hate to see kids dragged into these things when they go public. The adults have voices, and the power to make decisions...the kids don't.
But, mostly it's none of my business.
My business is the prevention of unnecessary line breaks. ;p I should stick to that. xoxoxoxo
ps - this looks like it will get uglier before it gets better...I hope not. We all need models of acting out of love instead of hurt. In that respect Rosie wins my favor for how she dealt with her most recent break up. THAT is how you divorce your kids Mom. xo
I'm on Team Tammy here. You can't argue with the court filing -- zero spousal support for the mother of your children. wtf? What was Melissa thinking? Talk about the best way to start a media shit storm!
Yeah, girls, Tammy seems the "wronged" one -- or, at least, the more-wronged.
We can't really judge what went on between them, one way or the other -- but Melissa seems to have acquired an odd take on reality (as one probably would, touring all the time...).
Though, Tammy seems awfully quick to put out all the egregious details -- which can't be a healthy first reaction, I'd think.

BTW modelling yourself after Bill Clinton? Um, sorry, that was a tad politically incorrect...
