I was just talking to an LJ friend about travel -- as the world slowly recoups economically. I think that international travel in general (both business and pleasure) will recover only VERY slowly from the downturn ( Read more... )

I'm glad you're trying to help the crews in some small way. I just read about the situation on cruise ships in an article today. (Washington Post, possibly?) Yeah, cruising is going to be hurting bigtime for a long while.

On a more selfish note, I worry that by the time it is possible to travel safely again, I will be too decrepit to enjoy it. I am already not in the best physical shape, and who knows in 5 or 10 years whether I'll be capable of withstanding the physical travails of airplanes, luggage, gangplanks, etc.

I think this will be effecting us for year and years. It took almost a decade for the West to get out of the Great Depression, and only the break out of WW2 to jump up in industry, sadly for war.

Yup, it's clear that The Donald bumbled and schemed his way into massive harm to the world! Not the least of his "legacies" is making China the most powerful nation

China was already powerful but he really helped open the flood gates. The issue is if China will not trip over it's own feet.
