Mad Max -- wretched, but good, excess

I'd been looking forward to the new Mad Max film, ever since I read about Charlize Theron's having the co-lead role; she's called Imperator Furiosa (sorta Latin for "angry emperor" -- like a penguin watching Antarctica melt!), and she plays it to the hilt ( Read more... )

Yeah, the guy playing guitar on one of the bad-guy trucks -- loved it that, when that music truck smashed, all the speakers and other gear came tumbling off of it. (Reminded me of the huge speaker-trucks dubbed "trios eletricos" in Salvador's "Carnaval" -- obscenely big and LOUD!)

Saw THE ROAD WARRIOR back when home videotape recorders were an exciting piece of technology. "I'm just here for the gasoline." I'm no petrolhead, but all that smash and crash raised my blood pressure, and I'm pleased to hear that the new movie is just as exciting. Not a huge fan of Mel Gibson, so pleased that Tom Hardy works so well.

I really love the last line of Lane's article: "Enjoy the movie, but for God’s sake don’t drive home." I'll be sure to keep that in mind once I do get to see the movie XD

Glad you read the full review. Lane is a really decent critic.
