I'm frequently pleased by the quality of writing one finds on LJ. Of course, there are some professionals, like my friend, Ursula Vernon -- but a recent post of hers drew no fewer than 34 responses, nearly all real grabbers that I was happy to mull over. She's a terrific writer. One of her posts is basically saying 'Nothing much is happening at the moment' but she can make nothing happening sound interesting. It's that love of words, the ability to juggle them in such an evocative and amusing way that the content almost doesn't matter. And she's such a good cartoonist, too. How does one person get to be so talented? It's not fair! :-)
