Well, sports fans, though I liked the Broncos-Pats game this afternoon, it was a miserable football game tonight. And I was trying to get it off my mind just a minute ago when, on my Tumblr Radar, there appeared the following brief account of the results. Annoyed, I reblogged it, appending a small footnote ( Read more... )

While I agree with you, Kaepernick deserves some credit for the 49's loss, too. Both he and Tom Brady failed to make some key plays in their respective games and will now be watching the Superbowl instead of playing in it. Kaepernick is young and inexperienced, but I have no doubt that he'll improve in the next few years. Brady, however, isn't young and has already reached his potential, IMHO. He's a great QB, but we may be witnessing the apex of his performance curve.

No question, the losing quarterbacks yesterday both deserve blame: Kaepernick's pair of interceptions (not counting the one that ended the game) really did doom the 'Niners. But it was the rotten officiating that drove me wild. Both the ones I cited were precisely WHY refs are more needed now than ever: both manifestly ignored the sort of actions that severely injure players -- and DID injure the 'Niner who got possession of that loose ball, and was maimed for his trouble.

Oh, and you didn't mention the BEST performer yesterday -- Peyton Manning!

I saw the highlight reel from the seattle game... No doubt in my mind which team wanted it more!

As a native Seattleite and a Seahawks fan, I think the teams were extremely evenly matched and the Hawks just made a couple more plays.
That wasn't roughing as the punter did a semi-respectable acting job and was barely touched.
Still I'm pretty happy today about the result.
