This is by way of a regret: I probably won't be able to blog much in the next couple of days -- and specially upon awakening, a luxury when I'm here. You see, we're having another couple of Washington friends descending upon us this afternoon. That's in addition to our London friend who's been visiting us, occupying the guesthouse

Of course you must put the needs of flesh and blood guests over virtual ones. Like they say, there are only so many hours in the day. I hope that you all have a great time. As for the situation between you and Joanne....whilst the odds are against any hanky-panky, you know that your loyal readers always hope for the best for you!

Yeah, I can imagine the "peanut gallery," cheering for me to prevail somehow. BTW this is after a busy afternoon with the visitors, a lovely walk on the beach (verifying that yesterday's fierce rains has left some beach intact), then some of the neighbors coming around for drinks. Joanne had prepared herself to ruskle up eventual food -- and, indeed, we all ate very well, finished off a quantity of wine, and solved the problems, great and small, of the entire universe...

So far, so good -- they've arrived and all are at dinner. (I've escaped, briefly....)

As I wrote, Joanne and I have a difficult love-life, The "separate bedrooms" decision, a bitter pill for us, came about only quite gradually -- as sex between us died away in the past several years
