Justine - I love this photo. Not just for the boots and tutus, but also because the photographer took some time posing the ladies.
I photographed a model in a wedding dress once at the National Cathedral, she was wearing hiking boots. I loved the look of that combination, and this photo of the two women reminded me of that photo session.
And that reminds me - I doubt if you've seen much of my nekid-lady and other lady photography. I do happen to know that several of the women are bisexual, and a couple of them are lesbians, I think. though I don't really inquire much. I photograph women to bring out their beauty in my photographs. Their sexual choices are their own, it isn't something I emphasize. But I'd be willing to, if the client wanted that. Would you be interested if I put together a gallery of the better images for your perusal?
Woohoo! I haven't seen your work at all (I figured, NatGeographic...you know?) But "lady photography"!? Would I be INTERESTED? Does a bear...I mean, is the Pope...?
OMG Please do!
I take it you're not on Flickr -- or surely I'd have euchered (lovely word!) the info out of you ere this...
I mention Flickr because -- being "tech-challenged," as I am -- that's the only way I know how to move photos onto my LJ (other than those of the generous Scott Church, whose work I suppose you've seen on my blog). Though perhaps you didn't intend me to use them here -- and THAT would be perfectly okay. "Perusing" would be just lovely, thanks!
I'll put together a gallery just for you on my website, and then you can link to the images you like. Some of these are work in progress for a book about goddesses.
Cool. I occasionally invoke "the goddess" (of whatever), and -- obviously -- I think women have a hammerlock on the universe as we know it -- not to mention the parts we DON'T know about. So I'll be delighted to know what you're thinking about in that territory.
Funny enough, MM, I've known you were deeply into photography for a long time -- but, until today, I somehow presumed it was landscapes, commercial stuff, and the kind of thing that makes up NGeographic. So, I TRULY should apologize for my lack of curiosity about your life's work -- even as I've burdened you and my other friends here with a LOT of me, me, me. I'm certain that you've wondered why you bothered with a sexually-obsessive and self-centered woman like me -- but thanks for doing so, and then today discreetly mentioning that you're ABOUT the femininity thing that I yammer on about.
Hugz, J
ps -- and "hi!" to Red! (Hey sweetie, you know you could have told me that MM was on the case, girlie-wise -- or a little hint, maybe...)
Yes, like ME, perhaps -- even naked! (Just teasing, sweetie!!)
What I, in fact, enjoy about Brigid is the innocence -- rather, the knowing innocence that she deploys as she captures her world. You'll have noticed a girl named Casey, obviously someone very dear to Brigid. And other people near and dear to her, both young and old. We ALL have connections of the same sort -- it's what Life gives us! But I DO like her way of illustrating what a well-lived life these days is all about.
I hope to have her permission soon to share a few more glimpses of Brigid's world...
Thank you, Leah. I know you'd especially enjoy knowing more about Brigid -- and I really recommend you go to her Flickr collection and look through one by one (since she's so creative in her titles -- and some have intriguing comments).
As is only true about a few Flickr members, she has generously opened her life there...and you'll feel like you know her well...
