"spoiled little rich kids" -- that's US!

I haven't written about the debt-ceiling mess in Congress lately -- but that's not because it doesn't MATTER. It is a goddamned depressing situation -- and the Republicans' massive FAIL is going to cost us all! These idiots are NOT just shooting themselves in the feet; they're hurting the poor, the middle class, and even the fucking rich ( Read more... )

I'm beyond upset about this. The Republican party has been high jacked by the Tea Party. It's a boatload of extremists now. Old extremists too. They have to go!

My son purchased a house 3 weeks ago. It's his first house, first anything living on his own. He's an employee of the government. (Social Security) He buys a house and has his pay withheld. All with in a week.

EVERY Republican in the House deserves to be voted out in 2014; all the Republican Senators, too -- though we can't get rid of the last of them (including, ironically, the worst one, Ted Cruz) until 2018.

It is infuriating enough to seek to have "recall" elections put into the Constitution -- if not to jettison Congress altogether and put in the parliamentary system. (In the UK and other enlightened countries, you would have a vote of "no confidence," triggering immediate elections.)

I'm sorry for your son, sweetie!

Yeah. He's 26, single and always wanted to live in his own house, not an apartment. So he lived at home, saving his money for a down payment for a single house in a nice area. We didn't charge any rent so he could save. He finally got the house he wanted....and this happened. He's OK. financially so far. Anyway he's moved in and is currently buying furniture.

I'm not going to hold my breath. Latest news is that they might have come to an agreement to open the govenment, but things change so quickly....don't know till they make an announcement.

Yup -- the issue now is to give the Repubs some face-saving way to "surrender" -- what they accused the Senate Republicans* of doing when they tried to GIVE the House a way out of the self-created impasse. Assholes...

* I see that a brand-new Gallup poll on the weekend says that "self-identified Republicans were twice as likely as Democrats to rate their party unfavorably..." That says it ALL...the Tea Party types are more and more isolated!
