Some very beautiful women, and some lovely clothes. That said, the Nicole Kidman dress strikes me as the most ridiculous thing that I've ever seen. She looks striking, but unless that floaty train inflates and allows her to float around like a hovercraft, what the Hell can she do other than look striking? Tyulka makes a point about what women want to wear, and what men want them to wear. I personally think that women do tend to be better at knowing what suits them than men. My wife also bullies me about my dress 'sense'. As she points out "Before I met you, your personal style was 'Closing Down Sale at the Charity Shop'".

I wonder if you had anyone in particular in mind with this post, Justine? Anyway, I kind of liked a few of the pics, but a lot of the 'mix don't match advice' and super-garish prints are quite hideous. I've never been one for the headline-grabbing catwalk shows with the lampshade hats or birdcage shoes. I always liked clothes that normal people might actually wear and look better in. I'm such a crazy renegade designer!

"'Closing Down Sale at the Charity Shop'" made me laugh ggary, but that's not so bad really. Some of these fashionista peahens spend a king's ransom looking as ridiculous as they do. At least you did it on the cheap!

Karen--I sometimes put on an expensive suit, but inside I'm really a cheap dresser...T-shirt or polo shirt, tracksuit bottoms, trainers. If I have a style icon, it's Peter Falk in Columbo. A workmate of mine shares the same tastes, and she put it best "I dress for comfort. I tell everyone that my style is Boho-Chic, but my brother says that it's really Hobo-Chic".

I'm glad, karen, that you saw the Russian girl's post. And, Gary, your thoughts from the male contingent were fun! As for my own dubious fashion sense (which Joanne criticizes in me as much as your wife does you, Gary), I just don't give it that much thought. I'm wearing some old army-green shorts out on the deck at the moment. (Though they do show off my great legs, if I do say so myself.)
