I personally love savage!Dean, like way back in S2 with the vamps. It could be something to do with my obsession with evil!Winchesters, but I also think I just like to see Dean take his emotions out on something instead of crying.
Halfway through, when I paused to AIM, I lost track of my thoughts, a little. But I love all this Dean meta that's presented in a digestible, non-Dean-favoring way. (In short, it didn't feel like a DEAN-CENTRIC episode, but had wonderful meta for both boys.)
I love savage!Dean so much. It has been a LONG while since we've seen him, and I think it's part of him that can't be thrown out and replaced with insightful!Dean or moralistic!Dean a la Family Remains. I also felt a distinctly Bloodlust vibe when he was beating the crap out of Adam, but upon analyzing it, I came to the realization this was so, so much more than just taking out his frustrations from the episode. This was YEARS of frustrations and worthlessness and uncertainties that he took out on a PERSON. Maybe not a person, but a person's face, the face of his HALF-BROTHER. Man, I can't get over how screwed up it is! And I thought Show was never gonna surprise me like that again, but it diiiid.
I love your film student tag ;) Interesting food for thought here. I will have to digest it in the morning as I'm too tired to be ranty or thinky right now. LOL, apparently I get complaisant when I'm sleepy.
Hahaha, it's sort of pretentious, but IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE LULZY. Glad you like.
I'm also glad you liked *the thoughts I had! (I can type. Really.) Though your icon is how I feel right now, too, with my brain oozing out my ears. Deaaaan meta, I'm so excited!
Sorry I talked SO MUCH at your house and thank you so much again for having me over! I had such a freaking blast!!!!!!!!!!
It's creepy how much Dean and I can be alike. Upon first meeting Adam, I would have acted just as Dean did - completely suspicious and unwilling to accept who Adam says he is. But once I saw the facts, I would have been protective, like Dean.
Did you ever see "A Christmas Story"? Dean's battering of the Adam ghoul at the end of the episode totally reminded me of when Ralphie beat up the bully... and just kept hitting him and hitting him. We all have breaking points, and some of us, once we lash out, we don't stop immediately, even though we're beating a dead horse, so to speak.
The cinematography of this show is so delicious. OM NOM NOM.
(OH MY GOD THE BOYS WERE SO HOT IN THIS EPISODE NUGH:RLKSJFOEITEW:LTKS. And as;ldjfpwoefj.)
Oh, I loved reading your thoughts on this episode. Mostly I just go flailflailflailOHSHOWflailokayDEAD and that's pretty much IT, but you bring up some stuff I hadn't even considered and ahhh, makes me love it all the more. In short, you rule.
