Hey! I'm in Luebeck for around two weeks to visit my Fiancé before my Fall semester at Uni starts again. However, he works during the day, so I must keep myself pretty busy. Can anyone recommend places in Luebeck for me to visit? I've already been to Travemuende nearby, and to a bunch of churches ( Read more... )

I love the Altstadt and the Holstentor. If you like marzipan at all, check out Cafe Niederegger, too. :)

Have fun!

Man, I loved Lübeck! Only went for a daytrip though, so I'm afraid I'm of no help.

a pure walk around the Altstadt shall be a treatment, i assure, 'cause the old part of Luebeck is extremely romantic and cozy, plus local people speak a pretty bit of friendly English ( ... )

My husband spent some time in Luebeck as an exchange student. He recommends visiting the park on Holstentorplatz (not sure of the park's name, but it's on a little island near the Innenstadt). There's the old gate to the city, a recreation of the town in medieval times, and apparently some ancient armaments and torture devices on display. He also recommends eating as much Marzipan as possible - the Niederegger brand is from Luebeck.

Have you gone to see the shop with the Marizpan sculptures by the Rathaus? That was rather entertaining I thought.
