This was triggered by a friend of a friend making a more-or-less innocent comment that was intended to be encouraging. Her heart was in the right place, but it still really got to me. I used to have to deal with comments like it all the time

I went back to grad school when my kids were ages 2 and 4. I did the full time intensive program and graduated first in my program. When people asked how I did it all I replied, honestly, "I was a shitty parent

I really needed to hear this, actually. Things have been sucking and of course they "shouldn't" suck, according to people. And I "should" have been able to do things. And I couldn't. And I can't.
