FOR THE WINCE!!

I actually had to correct a sign left (apparently by a faculty member or TA) on some furniture in the hallway of the English department where I'm getting my Ph.D. (no, it's NOT "rennovation".) I went home very depressed that day.

If they're not a native English speaker, I'd cut them some slack.

If that person was born and raised in an English-speaking country, they need to do a few hours of community service for making our brains hurt.

I get a little mad when people start with the "no child left behind" doctrine because it's pretty clear that SOME children WILL get left behind due to native lack of skills.

This is not a bad thing, this is just real. And they become janitors in the natural scheme of things. Intelligence is a bell curve. Not everyone is in the middle.

Native speaker? Cut them some slack? C'mon, this is ME! You know I wouldn't have posted it if I didn't know for sure they were born here. :) I don't like to make fun of immigrants. Learning new languages isn't easy for most people.
