How do you go about telling someone politely that their toiletries stink (in the literal sense of the word)?

If it's Glen you're talking about, subtle will not do. But joking might work. What does he use?

Yes, it's Glen. He uses Noxema face wash, Oxy pads and Old Spice bodywash. Any one of those stink enough as it is, but the combination is lethal.

Can't he keep them in a bucket under the sink or something?

Him keeping anything in one specific spot would be a miracle in itself, but it's moreso the lingering smell after he uses them. It stays in the air for hours.

Tell him you're allergic. So many people are allergic to fragrances. have you ever noticed signs in doctor's offices asking people not to wear perfume? I'm working with somebody who has some perfume allergy.

I hadn't thought of that. I wonder if I could get away with it while still wearing cologne?

Well, I have allergic reactions to some products but not all.

I wear a very small amount of perfume daily and use some scented products, but god forbid someone with heavily floral perfume enters my zone: INSTANT HEADACHE right between the eyes.

So, you could legitimately say it's just his stuff.

Whenever we discuss your skin sensitivities, it always reminds me of the time I suggested you have a wooden wedding ring made.

You'd hate one of the guys I work with. It never fails that, every time after we work out, he sprays about 1/3 can of Axe all over himself.

Seriously, it makes it hard for me to breathe, and I've got (ex-)smoker's lungs.

I like your ring, too, and I'll second the dislike of gold. It just doesn't look as pretty, even if it's "richer."

well, lets just get personal for a minute, my boyfriend has no problem telling me when i smell, be it bad breath or b.o. and in fact looked stuff up on the internet as to see why i have bad breath sometimes or this smell or that smell. and we actually went deoderant shopping together and i ended up with old spice a mild smelling one, and he showed me how to put it on and it works wonders actually, and i dont take offence to it anymore like i did. i dont want to be stinky ya know ( ... )

Hmm. He was sounding me out the other night on ladies, actually. I think he's really starting to wonder why he doesn't attract any women, and maybe that'll be the bridge to our conversation.

It's sad that this is the first LJ poll that I've ever done with such enthusiasm.
I luff my toiletries.
