Does anyone have information on methods of mind control or possession of a mechanical construct?  I wouldn't have thought it possible, but . . .

I think if someone got to his programming, they could.

"Programming"?

[Yeah, he doesn't know anything about robots.]

. . . pretend for a minute that I'm not a Tech Master.

...I guess I'll have to, Emily.

I'm not supposed to know this, so I shouldn't say it, but... have you ever heard of putting a mind or spirit inside a mechanical construct? Once it's there, it could be controlled like any other with the right kind of ability, right?

Heard of it, yeah. Even seen it before. Didn't know it could go the other way, though. That'd require the construct having a living soul.

So . . . what, assuming he has a spirit, maybe it was pulled from his body and transferred to a container of some kind, you think?

...You didn't have anything to do with this by any chance?

No specifics, but I would imagine some methods would be easier than with a biological organism, if anything.

You think that's what happened?

Easier? How so?

Not sure, but with how everyone's as shocked as they are, it's sounding like this is out of character for the captain, so that's all I can think of for an explanation.

The same way as it's easier to fix or modify machines than living organisms. The way they work tends to be less chaotic, and make more sense. That said, I've never worked on sentient mechanical constructs, so it's only a guess.

It does seem likely that that's what happened. Though it's also possible that he just wanted us off the ship to keep us out of danger and didn't have time to explain what was happening.

Oh, my, yes!

It's a simple matter of access his programming and altering the code.

Programming. Yeah, Rock mentioned that too. So basically, it's possible that someone pretty much got into his head and changed or suppressed his personality, taking control of him?

Oh, more than possible, dear!

You've just accurately described my Prime Function!
