Your hat is safe--I loved it madly! I'm still in that inarticulate stage of flapping hands and strangled seal noises, but we (I went with the 2 older boys) sat in the theater and kept saying things like holy shit and HOLY SHIT and I'm sure I was getting Looks from the people around me for cursing, and allowing my kids to curse back, but HOLY SHIT.
Also, I see in other comments that you're thinking about Clone Wars and someone (99.9% sure it was musesfool) has a list of the good episodes and which order to watch them in, which I found very helpful especially with the earlier seasons of CW. Rebels has fewer episodes so it's less of a commitment (also, I think it's overall a more tightly written/better show.)
But yes, wow, can we send KK flowers for greenlighting this movie?

This was so much fun to read! Finals week just ended, so I have some work to do before I can play like that (probably) but I will SO look forward to it!
Hi!! :D Yes indeed, I am still kind of amazed they dared go this dark with such a family-oriented, historical property. So dark! But that was so much to its benefit, and they carried it off extremely well. Honestly, in this day and age, once in a while the stakes need to be high in a movie like this, and the price paid equally high. It was overdue.
I said to Evie, and I totally mean it-this is my Star Wars movie. Up till now, my preference has been:
Clone Wars Empire SB Force Awakens Star Wars: Rebels New Hope RotJedi .......and there were some other movies I guess. :D
But this totally zipped to the top. I could be fannish about this movie! A first for me, in the SW universe. (FWIW, I squee'd equally about its continuity with Clone Wars.)
ETA: p.s. I cannot remember the last time I laughed so much in a theater as I did at K-2's dialogue. And JIN KE!! (I mean Donnie Yen!) That was so amazing. Bless their souls for the casting of this movie from start to finish.
I want to read 5,000 Donnie Yen stories from you related to this movie. :D :D :D Over my Christmas break, I'm going to marathon Clone Wars because why not. It's all on Netflix. Rebels will have to wait til later. *g* (I started ep 1 of Clone Wars and noped out because of the extra-goofy voiceover narration; I will put that out of my head and skip past it next time. Heh.)
I had a suspicion but I was still surprised. So. Much. Death. And as you said, it was grounded in the realities of war so every death felt personal. I had to smile when I remembered reading that Felicity Jones' contract had a one sequel clause. Like how?
K2 was my favorite -- Snape as a robot. And Baze/Chirrut are an old married couple.
But you know what made my day? General Syndulla being called over the intercom.
Ha, really?! I wonder if the sequel clause could be for a different movie. Since there are other prequels to come, presumably; there's the Han Solo movie. I have no idea how they'd make that work tho. A cameo, maybe? She seems the type Han Solo might hang out with. *g*

And I'm 3 seasons behind on Rebels; is that Hera, or one of her family?
