Spartacus 3x01

I'm not even sure how to designate which episode I'm talking about these days. I pretty much consider this to be the third season of the show, but they rename it each season! (And that's not even considering the prequel issues.) Anyway, I'm so happy my grape-juice-splashing, gory, porny show is back!! I'm going to use my Andy Whitfield icon, tho, ( Read more... )

::This:: What you've written. When I first began watching Spartacus, I was watching it for purely for the eyecandy. Around Episode 5 of the first series, I began to change my mind.

And now, there continues to be plot and brilliant characters! All for the win!!

I love things like being in the elevator and knowing the two ladies riding up are totally talking about Spartacus.

Hee. This show is so simultaneously entertaining and hilarious. I am Spartacus! I will behead two people SIMULTANEOUSLY.

And Crixus is so awesome. "I am surrounded by mad fucks."

YES. YES. DITTO TO ALL OF THIS.

I'm so happy it's back! I'm loving the strong women, the relationships that have built themselves up and are so wonderfully realized now (am loving too how adorable Agron and Nasir are and how they're all about the love rather than the porny porn. ha. so cute!), and this amazing battle that is building.

Ugh, I love you gory, porny show!! :D

How is it possible that this show which I rolled my eyes over three years ago has become this amazing, gorgeous thing with all this heart?!

That was me - completely dismissing the whole thing as an OTT joke after the first episode. The Spousal Unit and I laughed our way through it. But he kept up, mostly for grins, and then was hooked by episode 4. I didn't get back into it until about a month before the second/prequel season started, when I agreed to sit down and watch the first season on dvd.

So, yeah, it definitely got better in terms of storytelling. Of course, the 300'esque blood and gore is still way OTT and even gets a snicker out of us to this day. But it's on my Must See list, and I'm here until the end. ;)
