Sam in the cell was very interesting. Good call on the lighting. :D Also love the transition from day to night. That pan across and then coming from the other angle was... yay.
Hee! Corny dialogue. It kinda had a reall "Boy Own Adventure" about it... or something. :0
John was mentioned a lot wasn't he?! Kinda loved that too. :D
I am surprised by speedy arc development. Belinda and I noted an overwhelming *plaid* presence in this ep, also harkening back to s2 and Nightshifter.
And yes, yes about Grampa Skinner. I inferred from the setup (the lying sack of shit deliberate soulless setup*) that Sam was more of a lieutenant in Samuel's little army, not a leader. I was surprised and sorta scared to death when I realized that Sam was the leader of that little group, and his presentation to Dean wasn't quite up front and honest.
*which brings me to the revelation that Robo!Sam was even worse than I could have imagined--really really smart, but just a horrible and soulless human being.
Re Sam taking the lead: *warms up fanwanking gene* It's possible that the 'one year ago' was an approximation and back when this happened Grandpa Skinner was still getting a handle on the wacky, wacky future. I can imagine being a bit passive when confronted with computers that are 30 years from the future.
Wow! On the one hand, Dad-isms! It would have been fine with me if they'd continued with that for several minutes. Seriously. Just, Dad said this! Oh yeah, well Dad also said that! And what about this?! Nuh-uh, girlfriend, you did NOT just go there! Because Dad also said blah blah blah
( ... )
t really is like old times, with Dean trying to be protective and Sam just not having it at all. Back when Sam still believed Dean could protect him (and we all loved seeing him try), it was better than ice cream. Now, it just makes me sad for them.
Just dropping in to say ditto - I still think that one of the most significant moments in the series was Sam's statement to Jake in AHBL I that he's now beginning to think that maybe Dean's wrong when he says that he'll protect Sam from everything. After two seasons, he's just beginning to doubt - it's extraordinary.
