When Pullo was leaning against the wall and Vorenus goes by him saying "What more can the gods do to me?" and Pullo says, "I don't know, and I don't want to find out," I about died. Because Vorenus is scaring the crap out of him and he's so obviously scared FOR him, I think he can barely stand it. And all he knows how to do is stand behind him and back up his play.
The scene with Antony and Vorenus I had seen a teensy bit of in the behind-the-scene stuff, so I knew it was coming, just not how extensive it was. Ho-yeah, that is teh hot. *g*
I loved the way Pullo got nervous when Vorenus desecrated the goddess; not only because he really does put his faith in tokens that way, but because Vorenus is getting more and more out of control. And for *anything* to scare Pullo, scares me. And yet you're so right; he's going to stand there, until the end, come what may. *wibble*
The hot homoeroticism shifted entirely from Pullo to Antony in this episode, which had me alternately going yay! and whoa. *g*
I think the truly scary thing is that Vorenus put even MORE faith in the gods and their symbols than Pullo did. He certainly was always the more respectful of the two. So, to see him break Concord's statue was just so amazingly surprising on all levels, I don't think Pullo knows what to think. Especially since I think that Vorenus still believes in the gods--he just doesn't care anymore.
Need next week!

No matter what, Antony always wins at teh hot. *g*

it's interesting, because I totally would have thought this too, but this episode has made me think that Pullo is really the more religious, in some ways. Vorenus' reverence last season seems now to be more about his general reverence of and intense adherence to the general structure of authority, to the *rules.* Whereas Pullo seems to have a more basic faith that the gods exist and are watching him and need to be placated, even if he's been rather sloppy about doing all that. *g* The whole thing seems to be more *real* to him, in light of these last two episodes, this one especially. Whereas for Vorenus religion was more...one face of the rigid social structure he lived in, and now an element of that structure that he can stand outside of and use to manipulate others.
*sigh* YES, yes to all of this. GOD. The entire Antony/Vorenus scene was just so--so--somehow the fact that Pullo was hovering anxiously in the background just made it even more terribly hot. *SIGH* These boys are going to DESTROY MY HEART, I swear. And that Pullo is the religious one! I mean, we knew that, but it's so fantastic that he *really is,* he really does see Vorenus as slipping over the line. The bond there just destroys me, and it's such a brilliant arc for Pullo, the way it mirrors last season. He hit bottom then because Vorenus didn't need him anymore, and now he's going to have to break away, and I can tell he's going to be able to, but it just HURTS MEEEE. --GOD, i could go on about this for ages. obviously. *g

God, yes. And I think it's fascinating, the way they've turned Pullo into the one who provides balance, that he's the calm, logical one now, in his efforts to keep Vorenus from self-destructing. God.
It was so fascinating to see Antony totally lose it, because for all that he's always been rough, crude, anything but subtle--I don't remember ever seeing him so raw, so *overcome* with rage.
Okay, please, seriously, and I'm begging you here... think about writing me the scene where Vorenus cannot stop thinking about Antony's breath on the back of his neck, and the dark promise in his voice, and Vorenus has to wrap himself up in a cloak and slip off to Antony in the night, where he comes to him and begs to be punished for what he's done? And Antony makes him beg and Vorenus swears he'll do anything for Antony if he gives Vorenus what he needs, anything, just name it, and Antony is unable to resist?
Oh, GUH. Honey, I would write that for you in a heartbeat, if I wasn't so beaten down right now. Because -- !! Your description of it is almost better than anything I could write! But I will make a stab at it this weekend for you. If not before, depending on how bad work gets. *hugs you*
But I will make a stab at it this weekend for you.
Oh, man. You are way, way too good to me. Please do not stress it in the slightest. But... gah, that would be better than chocolate. (And, like, if Pullo knows he's sneaking away, and why, that would make it even yummier... :D)
