a little Stargate story

Aug 04, 2005 14:09

This is for taselby, and brighidestone the birthday girl, and anyone who's been having a hard week, this week. It seems to be a trend. *hugs you all*

This sort of story is what happens when I listen to the song 'Sahara' (by Moxy Fruvous) on loop for a couple of hours. Set in the blank spaces of Moebius part 1, and pretty much AU, I guess. J/D, mostly.

Gorgeous. Simply gorgeous. There's a kind of wildness and freedom in this Daniel in spite of their being trapped in the past. Or maybe the fact that they're stuck sets them free.

Thank you. :) I think being stuck in the past might make them cleave to the old roles they know, for a while, but eventually that would fall away and they would be free, as you describe. It's interesting to think about what their lives would have been like, if all four of them had lived. Kind of sad, though.

a-HA! I KNEW it! That's the one's on my cd, right? I was listening to it yesterday on the way to swimmmaaang, and I could juuuuust seeeee you writing to that.

Egad, how I love this story. I'm going to pretend it's MINE! *g* It makes me feel all melancholy and warm and happy-sad and tight-throated. And makes me say, "See? That's what fanfiction can do."

And in honour of that feeling, I'm using this icon you made for me waaaay back on my very first day on LJ. It's the only one in my repertoire that I will never rotate out. :)

That's the song! It's like a snake winding in my head, and I mean that in a good way; it makes me see things. Interesting things. *g*

Still the best compliment ever, especially from you, and it makes me so happy. *dances a little shimmy* Also, I'm so glad you kept that icon. :D

Oh, my god, that's gorgeous. It's like a fable or a myth, golden with time wearing off the edges and the rough parts. Leaving the pain, but glossing it with love.

Jack had stepped off the path Daniel had always seen for him.
I love that line.

I love that Daniel got to see the Valley of the Kings without the tourists. Love it that the choice is Jack's, in the end.

::happy sigh::

Oooh, thank you! The original subtitle of the piece was 'a fable', but I took it off because I was sort of like, if I have to tell people it's a fable, I should work a little harder on the story. *g* So you've made me very happy.

I try to imagine Valley of the Kings as it was then, and all I see is sand. It's so hard to picture. All I can see is Daniel's face while he's looking at it.
