Are you serious?! Man. I probably ripped it off subconsciously, too; now that you mention it I do remember seeing a Gwen/Buffy thing somewhere, though I didn't get to read it. I'll come up with something else for the title.

This is a very cool fic, and an apt response to a difficult challenge request. The writing is really sharp (and the kid crumbled like a stale cannoli is my favorite moment), and I love the subtlety: Dawn as a professional thief is an intriguing concept.

This is the second story of yours that I've read and love, so I think I'll friend you. If you don't mind.

Thanks for the lovely feedback! You totally brightened my day. I kinda liked the cannoli bit too, so it was nice to hear someone else did. :D

Sometimes when I can't figure out the attraction between two characters, I like to play with the wanting/wanting to be dynamic. Worked really well for these two, with the energy and the freakiness and the histories of stealing things. I'm glad it worked out in the end.

BTW, I just checked out your LJ and realized I can't remember if I fb'd you for Like Describing the Alphabet, which I loved. Mal/Jayne is one of my favorite pairings, and you did such a great job with all the characters here. ::friends you back::

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. Yes, ficathons, rich in the traditional yield of bitching, moaning, whining, procrastinating, despairing, and turning in of late fics. And yet, they do make me crank out stuff I never would otherwise. :D

Interesting idea, Gwen attracting Dawn's energy. And of course, the two thieves -- a connection i had somehow never thought of before.

And it feels so true to character that Dawn would be following her around and Gwen would totally be aware of it but would let it go on for a while before finally calling her on it, and Dawn's defensiveness about her place in the hierarchy feels very true.

Wow, thanks for the thoughtful feedback! I'm glad the story worked for you. I could clearly picture Dawn prizing herself on her stealthiness, following Gwen around, and Gwen being onto her from minute one. Hee! It was an interesting dynamic to explore, those two.
