The door to the lobby opens and a tired young man lurches in with a very large, dangerous and somewhat alien looking rifle resting on his shoulder and a duffle slung across his back. He runs his free hand through his short blond hair, making it stand up in sweaty spikes as he leans heavily against the door to close it with his shoulder. When he ( Read more... )

"Wish I could tell you." She takes a few steps to him. Her voice takes on an almost questioning tone. "...Jake?"

He immediately perks up a little and straightens up, his grip on the gun relaxing again. "Rose, what's going on? I come back from the job and my flat's turned into a hotel!"

She moves to him, trying to gather the demeanor of a Torchwood agent, of the Rose that he might know. "No one here has arrived with meaning to from what I can figure out. It's a sort of meeting place between worlds and times, I suppose."

"Are you all right?"

He hasn't noticed anything too off about her yet, aside form the fact that she's here. "Oh yeah, aside from the whole world getting itself lost I'm fine. --Hey, wait a minute, how're you already here?"

"You're in some fancy posh hotel. Welcome to a place you won't be able to leave." Jack states. "Although, as for your flat, it'll still be standing if any of us can manage to get out of this place. Maybe."

"Well I can see that, what'dyou mean we can't leave? Doesn't the door work both wa--" As he speaks he turns around opens the door again, he suddenly falls silent as he stares out toward the beach. "...I've fallen into another parallel universe, haven't I."

"We're not quite sure what it is just yet. But myself, my team and a few others are going to work that out." Jack states simply. "Until the day comes where we can get out this place has all that you'll need in it."

"Right." He takes a breath and pauses a moment to sort his thoughts out. "Who's your team, then?" He figures that maybe he can be of some help, having a bit of experiance with extra-dimensional travel and things.

Right. Spiky-haired kid with an alien weapon. You've got Ianto's attention and Ianto's got his gun. "Hey there," he says calmly and without immediate threat. "Relax."

And Jake spots that gun, it's his job after all. He puts a hand to his own handgun, half-drawing it and ready to aim it at Ianto at any moment if needed. "Maybe I will when you put the weapon down." He's unusually tense at the moment what with the random falling through dimensions.

He gets a bland look at that. "Handgun. Rifle-- something alien by the sight of it. I'm hardly the one who needs to put the weapon down."

"Not my fault your hotel decided to be where my flat's supposed to be. I'm not carrying it around to threaten people with." He doesn't let go of the handgun either, though he reminds himself that shooting up the staff would make a bad first impression on whoever is responsible for this place. Then again, he can't imagine why the front desk staff would be armed...

"Oh! Jake." She smiles, pleased. "So good to see you. I'm afraid I don't have any answers..."

Her face falls a bit, just a bit. "How are you? How about a cup of tea?"

"Hullo, Jackie!" Seeing someone from his own timeline does wonders for his state of mind. "Doesn't look like anyone's got any answers, but a cuppa tea would be great."

"S'a good thing that you, Rose and Mickey are around. Between the three of you we'll have things sorted out. The Doctor too. He'll probably even be able to get us a way out."

"Come on then, you. You look like you could use it." And she'll grab his arm and all but drag him (gun and all) to the kitchen.

And he lets her, because it's Jackie Tyler, and she's right that he really could use a cup of tea. "We'll try our best. And yeah, he's got the best chance of sorting it out, I think." He grins at her and leans the rifle against the table before sitting, he knows better than to try and help out. The only thing he's ever been good at in the kitchen is plotting with the Preachers.

Mickey doesn't really do guns yet, and one that big definitely makes him a little nervous.

"... Don't shoot or anything. You're in a hotel."

"I'm not planning on shooting anything. Tell you the truth, it's not even loaded." He grins, not yet realizing that this is not the Mickey he worked with in Torchwood. "And I can see that. Hullo, Mickey."

He startles a bit then looks suspicious.

"Uh, don't take this wrong, but who the hell are you? How d'you know my name?"

"It's me, Jake...you don't remember." It's kind of depressing, that's two people now that he considers close friends who don't actually remember him. "...I'm from your future, I guess. That's what Rose said, anyway."
