A charming and ruggedly handsome young man (or so he'd like to think; humour him) arrives, at first casually, twirling a set of keys around his finger -- but the minute he notices the change in surroundings, his stance grows more cautious and alert. The strange and unexplainable is nothing new to him, so he isn't exactly panicked, just slightly on ( Read more... )

Warren glances over and gives him an annoyed look. "Right." He rolls his eyes and looks back at his book. "Welcome to nowhere."

Dean raises an eyebrow, not commenting on the annoyed look quite yet, though he's obviously not put off by it. "Nowhere as in 'middle of nowhere surrounded by cornfields' nowhere, or as in 'I have no idea where this is' nowhere?"

"The second. If you can figure where we are, you'll be the first." He puts a piece of paper in the book to keep his place and closes it. "Who are you?"

"Great," he sighs. "Just great. I'm Dean and, uh -- have you seen my brother Sam around here? Tall, smart, kind of goofy-looking?"

"Hullo there." Harry has been reading magazines. He looks up with a smile and waves. "Just arrived?"

A relatively unassuming and pleasant-looking guy. And probably not a spirit. Okay, this he could handle with ease.

"Just recently. This happen often?" He makes a vague gesture in the direction of where he came from, obviously meaning 'this' to stand for 'people arriving out of nowhere'.

Harry shrugs, which his way of dealing with it so far. "Yes. I've only been here a few weeks myself. You'll probably find your key at the desk."

"Key? What the--" Trailing off, Dean cautiously goes to look at the front desk, and yes indeed, there is a key there for him. "Okay, this is just plain freaky now."

Ianto, who has taken to sitting at the front desk, slides a clipboard towards Dean. "If you'd sign in, please."

Dean takes the clipboard but doesn't sign it, glancing from it to Ianto with his token 'you've got to be kidding me' look.

"Sign in? What sort of place is this?"

With the patience of one used to speaking to idiots (or tourists, or Owen): "A hotel. Or would you prefer not to keep track of the guests?"

Oh, that sort of patience and this sort of take on things reminds some of us of certain brothers, which makes Dean warm up to Ianto a bit and simultaneously grow a little more annoyed. It's complicated. "Yeah, you're probably right, especially in this sort of place. Good thinking."

He picks up a pen -- but still doesn't sign the clipboard, glancing at the sheet of paper instead. "Is your name on here?"

"Tell me about it." Sheppard's slouching against the wall, arms folded across his chest and hip cocked to display the gun at his thigh to best advantage. "Though I tend to prefer the Hammer Horror crap to stay in the movies."

Dean automatically tenses at the sight of the gun, but he figures there's nothing to worry about until people start shooting at him. Besides, he could always shoot them back. (Nobody ever said he was the smart brother.)

A slight snort of laughter. "In a place like this it's kinda difficult to tell apart fiction from reality. I mean, people randomly appearing?"

majorflyboy February 11 2007, 07:17:35 UTC
"Seriously. I've been watching people arrive, still can't figure out how or why."

And here he'll adjust his stance to something less overtly threatening, breaking into a dorky grin at odds with his handsome face.

"Wish I could say it's the weirdest thing I've ever encountered."

"I bet once Sam - that's my brother - gets here, he can enlighten us a bit more. He's a smart one."

And he could say 'same here' to the second statement, but experience has taught him to be cautious. "Yeah? What other sorts of things've you seen?"

"Addams Family feel? Aren't ye a bit young for that show." He grinned and offered his hand, "Connor MacManus, welcome to our humble home."

"Nah, I like the older TV shows and movies. They're classics, man." He grasps Connor's hand, shaking it firmly. "Dean. It's nice to meet you, Connor."

"Ah good, now I can make references without feelin' old. Where ya from, Dean?"

"Nowhere in particular, actually," he shrugs a little, as if this isn't a big deal. "I'm originally from Kansas, but lately, my brother and I have been on a roadtrip together. We're hoping to end some unfinished family business."
