Mustered confidence

May 25, 2009 11:37

Prompted by Andros and Genevieve, Zhane finally got his courage together and is going to try and knock on a certain girl's door.  He has a small bouquet in his right hand, and he's very freshly done his hair.

He's hoping, really, really hoping that they were right - that it's only about that  nemesis who showed up, like Genie said Warren told her.  ( Read more... )

Dean wanders up a moment later, raising his eyebrows at the guy at Claire's door. Uhoh, he hadn't stepped on toes, had he? Well Claire hadn't mentioned anyone, so Dean leans against the wall next to the door, eying Zhane curiously.

"Aaw, for me? That's real sweet of you, kid, but I don't go that way." He smiles, both quietly amused and slightly cocky. "You here to see Claire, too?"

.....

If Zhane's face could fall, it would. Fortunately, that sort of thing doesn't happen, though he's clearly displeased with what just happened there.

"Didn't know she had family over. I expected you to look a little bit more geeky, Mr. Bennet."

He's doing it on purpose. He doesn't even look a thing like Claire, this guy.

He doesn't know Claire's last name, but he assumes Mr. Bennet would be her dad. Which could be fun, if the guy hasn't met her dad yet. Honestly, he doesn't care who Claire fucks around with. She's a big girl, she can make her own decisions. But this guy... looks like kind of a dweeb. Might as well have a little fun, right?

Dean straightens up, crossing his arms over his chest and looking stern. "Matter've fact, I am," he asks, doing his best impression of his own father's voice, gruff and no-nonsense. "You a friend of hers, then?"

"Yeah," Zhane replies, without hesitation - even if he's ... well. This is all strange. "I wanted to check on her. Haven't seen her in forever." He looks at the flowers, and sighs. The fact that he has a crush is evident, so might as well not hide it.

Besides, it's not like there were ever any promises made. Unfortunately, that kind of logic isn't much consolation at the moment.

Eventually, it will be, though. That dweeb's a tough little cookie, that way.

Though she doesn't really look it, Lisa's about the same age as Zhane and Claire, maybe a year older. So when she sees someone in their teens, she's likely to stop and say hello. She hadn't met many yet. Coming from the opposite direction in the hall, she stops short when she sees the flowers and beams at the boy holding them.

"Those are pretty. Need a date?" She'd go out with him for the flowers.

"No." He shoves them at her moodily. "You can have them." He's not particularly in a good mood, Lisa, but you're welcome to try. Right now, though, all this boy wants is to go to the gym and destroy a sand bag, maybe two. He might be training a while.

I'm assuming this is after the encounter with Dean, which is going remarkably well. Hm. So, yeah. She's welcome to keep talking to him, or something, though.

Lisa takes the flowers but upon seeing his angered state, could care less about them. If her company isn't happy, Lisa isn't happy. That's just how it works. Not that she liked cheering people up, she just hated depressed people; they annoyed her. Considering her mental condition, this behavior is slightly ironic. Perhaps she doesn't like being challenged in the 'my life sucks' department.

Lisa wishes she had the cat puppet she plays with back in the hospital. "You look like you're about to get into a fight with a fuckin' semi, sweet pea."

"Maybe I am. Do you care?" Grumpily, but note that he's actually engaging her, which is not bad.

He might just be really annoyed with being lorded over the Other Guy. Or maybe he found out he is the Other Guy. Or maybe he's just being a teen - at any rate, he's indeed not pleasant company, unfortunately.

Living on the same floor as Claire, Adam has a good view of folks that go by her room. This one is new to him. His curiosity causes him to pause as he sees the flowers.

"I'm not sure Claire's in," he mentions, glancing towards her door, and then back to the young man, studying him.

Zhane eyes the neighbor, and nods. "She's not," he confirms. "I was just leaving."

"I'll tell her you came by, when I see her," he offers, as an excuse to figure out who he is. "What's your name?"

"That's fine. I'll come back later," Zhane says, quietly. "But thank you."
